Each year, a very special group of Impact Austin members toil behind the scenes for the benefit of the entire membership. In a continuing series of blog posts, we are introducing you to these talented women and hope that this will allow you to get to know them a little better. You met the Executive Committee in our last “Introducing” post. Now, meet the Directors of the Impact Austin Board!
Lisa Allen
Co-Owner and Partner, PlanningWorks, Inc.
Lisa joined talents with Mikiel Featherston to start PlanningWork$ in 1999. Since then, she has been providing client consulting and financial management for asset accumulation and wealth preservation. Lisa is a Certified Wealth Strategist® and a long-standing member of the Financial Planning Association.
As a founding member of Impact Austin in 2002, she currently serves on its Board of Directors. Currently she serves as President of the Iota House Corporation of Chi Omega Fraternity, and chair of the Special Projects-Financial Committee. She supports MLF and the Community First! Village project, and remains an active member of CREW Austin after her term as a board member.
In August 2012, Lisa was recognized as a finalist for Austin's Most Influential Women: 2012 Profiles in Power Award.
Lisa Apfelberg
Executive Director and Nonprofit Consultant
I am very passionate about all non- profits having been a non- profit professional in Austin for over a decade. I was looking to make an even bigger impact on Austin's community and city so when an opportunity came to join the board, I was thrilled to jump in. I truly believe that through our grants, we touch so many parts of our local community and I want to do everything I can to support our efforts.
I've lived in Austin for fourteen years and in addition to volunteering with or working for local non- profits, I'm busy raising my two children and our many pets.
Patricia Burgess
Attorney and Philanthropist
Becoming an Impact Austin member, a member of the Board of Directors, Chair of the Governance Committee and member of the Audit Committee, as well as liaison to IMPACT-edu (the new philanthropy education group) and G3 (our wonderful young women’s group) has been an immediate introduction to incredible women and non-profit organizations in the central Texas area.
My avocations are reading and writing, being active (run/hike/swim/bike) and travelling with my family.
Sarah Elliott
Founder, Ellivate Advisors, LLC
After practicing as a CPA for 14 years, I woke up one morning and realized that what inspires me is not technical accounting, but the people side of my business as it relates to developing our future leaders, supporting women’s success in leadership and driving the benefits of a flexible work model in our profession.
As a result, I founded Ellivate Advisors, an advisory firm dedicated to providing strategic services to CPA firms nationwide and helping them attract and retain top talent. I feel blessed to be pursuing a career I love that provides me with the ability to fulfill my philanthropic passions as well!
Laura Kane
Vice President, Crockett National Bank
Laura Kane has been a member of Impact Austin for 6 years, and a Board Member for 2 years. She has also been a Focus Area Committee Chair and participated on the Grants Finance Team.
She is a Vice President for Crockett National Bank where she focuses her efforts on commercial real estate lending.
Sarah Pantin
Managing Partner, Asset Strategies Group, LLC
I’m a sixth generation Texan and most proud of having five 8th generation grandchildren in Central Texas. My faith journey and family have been great joys in my life, as has my 30 year career in the financial services profession. I co-founded my firm, Asset Strategies Group, LLC 10 years ago and love working with clients in the roles of a Corporate Registered Investment Advisor and Registered Principal.
I’ve been a member of Impact Austin for the past nine years and was Co-Chair of the Grant Finance Committee before joining the Board. Now in my second term, I am pleased to serve as Co-Chair of the Board Finance Committee and liaison to our Fund Development Committee. I was honored this year by the Ethics in Business & Community and their Recognize Good Award in the Individual category. I was proud to have a table of Impact Austin members attend and celebrate with me.
Jacqueline Rixen

I'm an attorney at RixenLaw, and I love to travel.. It's an honor to serve on the Impact Austin board - the talent and dedication of the board and all Impact Austin volunteers is inspiring - together, we have changed philanthropy in Austin forever.
